Q- What happens if my 7th grade son/daughter is absent or on a medical during the 1/2 mile, Mile or PACER test?
A- The student will complete a 1/2 mile or a mile make up (for the Mile and PACER) outside of school. Parents will take their son or daughter to the closest regulation track and time them for the fitness test. Record lap split times, sign and return to the teacher before the end of the quarter.

Q- Do you accept late work?
A- Late work is accepted for 1/2 credit and we encourage students to complete all assignments. Most of the work is done in class. If you need to complete the work at home or during SSRW, talk to your teacher.

Q- What should I do if my son or daughter is ill or injured and can not participate in class?
A- A medical excuse will be given to a student who brings a written request from his/her parent or guardian. The note will be turned into the teacher at roll call. This request will be honored for a 1-day period only. If an excuse is needed for more than 3 days, a note from a doctor is required. Please be specific about the requested restriction. The student will be responsible for learning and making up the material presented in class.
The 2 types of modified excuses are:
1. Student dresses for class and participates to the best of his/her ability.
2. Student dresses for class and does NOT participate in any of the activities.
A doctor's note will release the student from dressing and all participation in class. Doctor’s excuses must be turned into the office before class. The student may be responsible for learning and making up the material presented in class.

A- If your student is complaining of an injury, remember the following for Basic First Aid Treatment: R.I.C.E.
• Rest the affected area.
• Ice the affected area for 20 minutes on and 20 minutes off. Repeat for the first 48 hours.
• Compression - wrap the area to reduce the swelling.
• Elevation - raise the area above the level of heart.

A- Each assignment falls into one of the following categories, which are equally weighted at 25%. All assignments are posted on the Home Access Center and should be returned to the workbook after grading. All work is considered "evidence of learning".
• FITNESS- Includes challenges to improve fitness levels, mile runs, ½ mile runs and Pacer tests.
• SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY - Includes student's participation, sportsmanship, cooperation, effort, being prepared for class and turning work in on time.
• SKILL - Includes student's basic skill development and application of skill in an activity.
• ACADEMIC - Includes knowledge of fitness components, unit reflections, written tests, and projects.

Q- What happens if the students does not dress in uniform for class?
A- The student will receive a "suit-cut". A suit-cut is defined as not wearing your own stenciled uniform, not having your shirt tucked in or not wearing tennis shoes. Consequences for suit-cuts are the following:
1st suit-cut= BEST Sheet
2nd suit-cut= Notice of Concern
3rd suit-cut = Suit Cut Contract
4th suit-cut = Administrative Conference
All subsequent suit-cuts will be referred to an Administrator.
